About 280 students of the Faculty of Education and Faculty of Vocal Technical Education in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka were yesterday inducted into the teaching profession at a ceremony affirmed by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) on July 13, 2021 at Faculty of Education Lecture Hall. The induction ceremony was the 2nd in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. In an address, the Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. Joshua E. Umeifekwem, said the graduates have gone through rigorous training to become professional teachers, and have acquired expertise and discipline required of a teacher. In his remarks, the Registrar of TRCN, Prof. Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye, said the quality of education in any society depended largely on the quality of teachers produced. The Registrar also added that Knowledge is supreme and all sectors are expected to be manned only by individuals whose capabilities and comprehension of the sectors are not in doubt. This implies that teaching, just like other professions, requires that only those who are adequately prepared in knowledge and skills shall be entrusted with the task of managing our education.
